The Apache initially consisted of small bands of hunters
following buffalo migrations from North to South. Today the
name Apache is still applied as a general term for the individual
tribes.

Burden Basket
$24.95
Apaches also have a history of basket weaving and in former times, they produced coiled willow baskets of very fine quality. Now they weave mostly burden baskets, deep and conical in shape with buckskin straps for carrying and fringe for decoration. The fringe is tipped with metal scraps which tinkle as the basket sways while being carried. The sound alerts bears to the presence of humans who share their mountains. Our burden baskets are miniatures, approx. 2" L x 2" D, in size and perfect as tree or wreath ornaments.
