Sandpainting
Today sandpaintings not only reflect traditional religious subjects but also include landscapes, still lifes and even portraits. Such paintings are striking hung alone and are beautiful displayed in a grouping. In recent years, sandpaintings have been effectively used as the frame for a mirror.
A permanent sandpainting is created by sprinking sand and other ground rocks and minerals against a piece of particle board which has been prepared with a specially mixed and thinned white glue. To protect the finish of such a painting, a very soft feather duster should be used to dust the painting. Avoid rubbing the finish with a cloth.
